Recreational Activities
Charlottetown has many recreational services and facilities. They are widely ranged and appeal to all people. The city has an incredible aquatics place with leisure and competitive swimming pools, a dual arena complex for hockey, an artificial field turf which can be used from 8-9 months annually for any field sports, a 400 meter track and field with ample spectator seating, the Charlottetown Civic Centre with seating for up to 3,700 people which holds year round concerts and major events. There's always something for everyone.
Festivals and Events
Charlottetown is worldwide famous for their festivals and events. There is a strong sense of community and uniqueness from their events. They bring everything to life in Charlottetown and that's what makes their cultural events exciting. You can sit indoors and enjoy plays and other shows in the theatre, hang around on an outdoor patio listening to some live music, if you like sports you can enjoy their outdoor events and basically anything! Most of their events happen in downtown Charlottetown and you'll never get bored since you'll see that their stage is never empty. Some of the festivals and events include the DiverseCity, the Jazz and Blues Festival, the Festival of Lights, the Jack Frost Festival (every February), the Fall Flavours Festival, the International Shellfish Festival and the Charlottetown Festival. To give you a taste of what some of the festivals are like I'll tell you a little more about the Charlottetown Festival. The Charlottetown Festival is a great event to look forward to. There's live music, the Anne Green Gables Musical which is the longest running musical in Canada, the world premiere of Evageline and much more!
